Yona has been raised with love by her adoring father and protected by Son Haku, her childhood friend, and others as the sole princess of a large kingdom. Her destiny is altered on her 16th birthday, however, when her beloved cousin Suwon murders her father in order to seize the throne. She flees the castle and begins a new life in Son Haku's hometown.
